WIND IN THE P58 Vickers Takes Double BSB Win in Spain T he 2024 British Superbike Championship kicked off at the Navarra circuit in Spain (yes, we know) over the weekend with OMG Grilla Yamaha's Ryan Vick- ers doubling up on wins to open a handy championship lead. Vickers, who finished eighth in the 2023 season, took the opening win ahead of teammate Kyle Ryde by 1.3 seconds, with former Moto3 World Champion Danny Kent (McAms Racing Ya - maha) third, 2.1 seconds behind. Vickers nearly threw the sec- ond race win away on final cor- ner of the final lap but gathered it all up to take the win, his first BSB career double, with Kent and Ryde swapping race-one po- sitions and finishing two-tenths of a second and 1.1 second in arrears, respectively. "What a day! I've gone from having no dry wins to having two in a day! The bike felt so good in race one and we decided to keep it the same for race two, which paid off. When I was behind Dan - ny in the first race, I knew that I couldn't let him pass Kyle first in case he got away, so I wanted to get by as quick as I could, which is what we did and managed to get the win." Vickers leads the series on 36 points to Ryde's and Kent's 30 points each. In the Supersport class, Luke Stapleford (Macadam Triumph Racing) headed Davey Todd (Powertoolmate Ducati) and Jack Kennedy (Honda Racing UK) in race one while defending champion Ben Currie (Oxford Products Racing Ducati) took race two ahead of Stapleford and Todd. CN Ryan Vickers takes off in the lead as BSB kicks off its season in Spain.
